Designing in 3-D - The New Paradigm

By now you've probably come across a computer rendering like this, maybe in your local newspaper for a new project, etc. and wondered, "How do they do that?"

The answer is that the leading edge of design and drafting starts with creating a virtual 3-D model of the project.  Today's software, in the right hands, can achieve this in a dramatically fast, efficient, and accurate way, even for the smallest projects.

Virtually every aspect of this model is fully and quickly editable, even down to the framing, plumbing, door knobs, even furniture and other furnishings.

Once this model is created, then the "drafting" (really an outmoded term for this process) is simply a matter of sending "views" of the virtual model to layout sheets for printing. Each view in the layout sheet is a "live" view of the virtual model.

One of the critical advantages of this approach is that changes to the virtual model are automatically updated to the layout sheets.  No more "erasing" or "re-drawing" when it comes to desired design revisions.

Another huge advantage is the ability to take this virtual model and produce not only full-color, nearly photo-realistic renderings, but also video fly-overs and walkthroughs.   These representations are part and parcel of the process and not an expensive "extra" and can help dramatically in visualizing the finished product.  The entire system is fully integrated.

Accuracy is also a tremendous advantage.  The 3-D model is much more accurate and informative, and will point to possible conflicts or flaws in the design, than has often been the case in the "Old-School" 2-dim-ensional process of plans, elevations, & sections.

This process can also be executed much more easily over long distances via net-meeting software and technologies where you can just sit at home and watch me demonstrate this to you on  your computer screen.

It has never been more affordable to put this advanced approach to work for your project, regardless of size.
