June 2007-Winner, San Luis Obispo County Secondary Dwelling Design Competition -

The County of San Luis Obispo Building
& Planning Department held a design competition for Secondary Dwellings of
800 sq.ft. or less. 10 winners were selected to provide complete
architectural and structural construction documents so that the County could
provide these "pre-approved" plans for free to anyone who has a
qualifying property in the unincorporated areas of the County on which they
could build a secondary or "granny" unit. This design was based
roughly on a secondary unit I designed and built on our own property in
2001. One of the design requests was to provide different styles for
